Content Description | Explains that he is anxious that his 2 sons, who are intending to go into the arts, should study the works of the great Italian masters; recent events mean that these works have been moved from Italy to Paris; both have honours from the Royal Academy which give them the privilege of visiting the Italian schools; has tried to put off their trip so as to not interfere with the will of Parliament, but their ages and circumstances mean he can defer no longer; asks that the duke therefore grant them permission to travel to France; hopes that his sons' successes will ultimately reflect on the country.
