Content DescriptionStates that between 9 and 11 o'clock, he carried a basket containing butter into Sidmouth market to sell; explains that a group of women approached him and offered to buy the butter for a reduced price, preventing others from buying it at its full price; explains that when he left the market an hour later he was followed by a large group of women and John Maer, the cordwainer; when he arrived at the house of Rev. Mr Jenkins, magistrate, in Salcombe, the cordwainer seized his basket and butter.
