Content DescriptionExplains that there is an intention that the whole of the militia laws should undergo a revision in the present session of Parliament; for this reason, they need opinions as to the number of men of which the militia should consist, and of the quota that could be supplied by each county, so that the number of men able to serve in the militia can be ascertained; asks that the duke give him a statement of the number of persons in Nottinghamshire fit to serve in the militia; does not think that this information will be difficult to acquire; explains where this information should be sent to; asks the duke to send back the return as soon as possible; sends the duke the printed copies of the return to fill in [see Pl C 52/61/2 and Pl C 54/3].
