Has considered the issues for and against the taking up of a loan of £2300 for his brother; thinks that they should go ahead with it and so asks Woodhouse to apply to Mr Foley [later 1st Baron of the 2nd creation] to know what the security was on the money the late Lord Foley [2nd Baron of 1st creation] lent to the duke's father [the 2nd Duke of Portland]; reports that he has not yet spoken to Lord Mansfield.
