Content DescriptionReturned from Chesterfield on Saturday and has been busy paying the bills and doing the accounts; has allowed the 'Navigators drive their Drift' far enough to get the coal in the next ground he viewed; would not let them go so far as to drain other people's coal, so as to get theirs and leave the duke's behind; refers to the cutting down of one of the duke's fences by Mr David Barns for Iron Stone; encloses (not present) an account of all the receivings together with an account of his expenditure and describes the income from the Newark rents; mentions his contact with Mr Brough and Mr Dakeynce; will await instructions about New Park; has heard that Mr Dakeyne is better; adds brief explanatory note about accounts.
