Remainder of letter is damaged, with text loss, leaving meaning obscure. Recipient identified by comparison with other letters in the same series; addressed 'May it please your Lordship'. Date reads '172' before being obscured by damage to the paper; probably dates from c.1723-c.1726 from other references to Thomas Thornton and the Vernon case in this series.
