Content DescriptionSends Stephen Hawks' lease drafted by Mr York, which includes part of the Great Avenue from the canal to the river; writes that 'my Lord' [2nd Earl of Oxford] might like a covenants added allowing him to dig for brick earth, sand and gravel and forbidding the tenant from erecting new fences; reports the progress of work on the quick fences and ditches bounding the Avenue.

Writes that painting work on the ironwork in the Great Court is being carried out by Mr Newman's men; reports that 55 out of the earl's 164 sheep sent to Essex have drowned or otherwise died, while John Handley and Joseph Norman have also lost many of their's; mentions that George Tealby is at the Red Lyon in Cambridge and is still just alive; adds that Widow Steevens is also ill and is at the Tigar.
