Content Description | Having heard that Harley was about to let Clipstone warren in Sherwood forest, thought it their duty to tell Harley that the late Duke of Newcastle agreed that as soon as the lease expired to destroy the warren for the benefit of hunting; on the basis of this, Sir George Savile agreed to destroy his own large warren on the forest at Hemsley, which he has done; do not believe that Harley was aware of this agreement.
Bottom of petition is damaged, with text loss, obscuring the signatures; names that are decipherable include J. Banks, J. Neale and Mr Digby. |
