Content Description	Discusses in some detail the potential employment of a new incumbent for Cottam [Cotham] and Sibthorpe; explains his unhappiness at this nomination; discusses his close association with Lord and Lady Harley and the duchess [of Newcastle]; expresses his long-term loyalty to them. Reply from William Wenman explains that the clergymen who has been nominated by Lord and Lady Harley is the son of a gentleman to whom the Harleys are under obligation; writes that as Lady Harley had procured for Royse a better preferment and as he has left the area, it had been thought that there was no problem in appointing this other clergyman to the post in Nottinghamshire; hopes that this business has not disaffected Royse. Much of letter is damaged, with text loss.
