Content Description | Transcribes a letter written on 10 Oct. 1730 to Mrs Greenwood:
Refers to her husband being 'a ffool & Madman' in relation to his tenancy and to the increase in rent, which he himself offered; writes that he has heard that her husband claims the agreement drawn up by Mr Hobart is worth nothing, and plans to take his goods away from his house; warns that the law will catch up with him.
Reports [to the earl] that he has spoken with Mr Hobart, who assures him that he and Mr Morley were witnesses; adds that Greenwood has paid a year's increased rent already and has no leg to stand on; refers to the increased rent paid by Mr Gabbetas of Sutton super Lound which he has found difficulty in paying because of the low cost of grain; adds that Chappell's son Robert is coming to London and will bring bills for his account for Michaelmas 1730. |
