Content DescriptionThanks Harley for his protection but reports that Mr Cossen has also been arrested with bail set for £1600, which he and Mr Clay paid; argues he was targeted because he was so good a servant to Harley; asks that Harley immediately file special bail for Cossen; hopes to encourage Clay to continue supporting them; notes that the tenants are pleased that Harley does so much to support them; argues that the tenants took heart from Mr Clay and his [Wenman's] meeting with Thorpe; they were convinced of Harley's rights and were determined to encourage their neighbours against Thorpe; suggests that if tenants continue to be arrested wholesale, Harley will be able to file special bail all in one go; has paid Lord Clare £1000; assures Harley he will continue to serve him against the 'implacable' duchess.
