Content DescriptionRefers to the kindness of Mr Levinz and of Mr Bennett of Nottingham in assisting him in his case against 'these villains', writing that Mr Levinz promises to be at Nottingham; discusses the increase in rent for John Marlow's farm; undertakes to make sure that the repairs are done before Marlow leaves.

Mentions 'Complaints of want...very great & Calamitous' among the people of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire; has heard that £10,000 p.a. is in the hands of the landlords; adds that he is to collect rents on the 19th and 21st and Mr Gace is to collect on the 25th and expects to have no problems as the earl's estate 'is in a better Condition than many others'.

Reports that there is a new fever sweeping the area which causes seizures and pains all over; writes that sweating and bleeding are being used to treat it; adds that Mr Gace has told him that in his area of Lincolnshire people are dying within 48 hours and that there is nothing anyone can do; writes that his family have suffered and also himself.
