Content DescriptionHas heard of the earl's good health from Mr Vaughan; reports on the progress of the young filly belonging to Lady Margaret; is postponing the grass-cutting; requests that the mowers and haymasters be allowed quantities of small beer because of the high cost of food.

Reports that John Bouron's eldest son was attacked by a mastiff and would have been in danger of losing his life if Cossen and others had not managed to pull him away; writes that his arm has swollen up and gone black; adds that the dog has been destroyed, and asks permission to 'dispose' of the rest of them 'for they are almost as bad as savage'.
