Content DescriptionThe duchess [of Newcastle] has arrived in the county in the 'greatest rage imaginable' and threatens the agents of Lord Harley and also those tenants who have paid their rents to Harley; believes Mr Farr has sent for writs for some of them; reports that Mr Bristowe has been arrested and asks that Dixon inform Lord Clare and Lord Harley; will stand by and bail out those loyal tenants who have paid Lord Harley their rents; fears that he himself might be arrested, although does not think that the duchess has any cause to act against him, as he has always conducted his business with her correctly; mentions Mr Neale's friendship; reiterates his need for Dixon's help and thanks him for his friendship; asks him to respond by the next post; adds that has promised to support Mr Chappell; asks he search for any writs against agents.
