Content Description
Reports that the freeholders 'in my old Circuit' are happy to support the earl's interest; adds that 'Mr Bromley and Mr Sheppherd have sent their Circular Lres in print to every Freeholder' and that Sir George Downing is offering a payment of 2 guineas per vote; writes that Cambridge was quiet and was not expecting any opposition to Sir John Cotton.
Mentions the hatching of some chicks; will not know about the partridges until William Gore returns; adds that Gore's wife is at Kingston Wood Farm and suspects this should not be allowed; has not received the list of servants at Dover Street and Down Hall from Mr Vaughan, as requested in order to make an entry at the Excise Office; will order no more tallow and will cease the production of candles 'unless they could be made to give a good Light with less Smoak'; reports that 100a. of land have been cleared of hay but that rain is hampering the clearing of the rest.
Writes that he has yet to ask 'Mr Jeffreys from Lambeth' about his vote, but that Jabez Conder has said 'he'l sell his Estate rather than vote against his Conscience'; adds that he has paid £30 to Mr Streeke for his year's work with the hounds.
