Pl C 1/434
Letter from John Cossen, Wimpole, to Edward Harley, Lord Harley [later 2nd Earl of Oxford], Dover Street, London; 30 Jan. 1723/4
30 January 1724
Has discovered that the post was not picked at the Tygar because the post-boy was drunk and forgot; claims that the tailor's measures were addressed directly to Lord Harley by John Bowron; has asked Thomas Thornton to come to his house and adds 'he were very sober but did not let him know Yr Lordship's great Kindness design'd him'.
Transcribes a letter sent by him to Mr Hudson the breeches maker: complains of the high price and poor quality of the buckskin breeches; states that he has had an estimate for a lower price, and must hear from him immediately; writes that 'my Lord' is prepared to pay a guinea per pair.
Transcribes George Hudson's reply: will make them at the offered price; has top quality stout leather to work with.
Letter dated 30 Jan. 1723/24.
