Content Description	Discusses the prospects for the arable crops in Nottinghamshire this year; reports that parts of the pail fences at Welbeck have been mended; mentions another fence around 'the Licorish Garden' which is in urgent need of repair; adds that the timber in the Riding House roof has rotted because there weren't enough tiles; provides an account of trees to be felled, and promises to bring a more detailed account to be looked at alongside Mr Percival's estimate; writes that his ten-year old son John has died of smallpox and 'purples'. Postscript: received Lord Harley's letter too late to prevent wood-cutting at Cock Glode; will leave the wood 'to spring agen' but advocates grubbing it all up and letting the land. Writer identified by the signature 'J.C.'.
