Content DescriptionHas been in contact with Mr Auditor [Edward Harley] and Mr Dixon and is pleased that they approve of every step that Harley and his wife have taken; refers to an intended attempt for a joint petition with Lord Pelham for an order of Court directing the tenants in certain estates to pay their rents to Harley and Pelham; mentions that Mr Dixon is to consult Mr Jodrell about it.

Reports that yesterday was the first time his brother, [George Wenman] was able to see the Bishop of Lichfield [John Hough], who told him that the Duchess [of Newcastle] had presented a clerk to him for Kingsley, but that he had refused to ordain him, and would write to the duchess to see if she insisted upon his admission; the bishop told him [Wenman] that the duchess had entered no regular caveat, but the law insisted on a month's time for his consideration.
