Explains his hasty departure from the country on account of his wife's serious illness, from which she may not recover; writes that the agents of 'her Grace' [Margaret Duchess of Newcastle] have brought suits against Staffordshire tenants; adds that a bill for £500 has been paid to Sir Robert Child, and that he has brought another bill for £200.
