TitleLetter from William Wenman, London to [E. Harley] Lord Harley [later 2nd Earl of Oxford]; 22 Oct 1713. Imperfect
Date22 October 1713
Extent2 ff
Content DescriptionCongratulates Harley for his victory of obtaining an order in Chancery; refers to Harley's petition which complained at the irregularities committed on the estates which had descended to Lady Harley; refers to Mr Aslabie's 'abominable abuse' of the court's authority.

Suggests that the order will take some time to draw up, but gives a short account of it from memory in 5 points; these points include an order that Newcastle House and all the papers relating to Lady Harley's indisputable estate be returned to Harley, while all the other papers be locked away at Welbeck; it argues that estates not subject to sequestration be returned to Harley and that Mr Aslabie must pay all expenses; also notes that the sequesters will have to leave Welbeck and Bolsover, and an indifferent person will be employed to look after the estates.

Adds that he hopes the duke will recommend his brother George for a living; adds a note referring to Brigadier Sutton.
