The future 4th Duke of Portland, then Marquess of Titchfield, married Henrietta Scott, the heiress of the Scotts of Balcomie, Fife. The material in this section relates to their marriage settlement (Pl F6/1), the 1814 resettlement (Pl F6/5) and the 1820 Estate Act (Pl F6/6), as well as to the wills and settlements of the Scott family (Pl F6/2), the management of the Scott estates in North Britain in the period immediately after the marriage - time of sales, purchases and consolidation (Pl F6/3), and litigation involving Henrietta and estates in Scotland (Pl F6/4). Pl F6/7 relates to the estate duties payable after the death of the 4th Duke (a copy of his will may be found at Pl L1/2/5/1).

The investments and loans (some to kin) made by the 4th and 5th Dukes are treated at Pl F6/8, and the will trusts and related affairs of the 5th Duke at Pl F6/9 (there is an overlap with material in Pl F10). Pl F6/10 is miscellaneous.
