Assignment by (2), at the direction of (1) (3) and (4), to Middleton of property at Brampton, Derbyshire for the residue of the term of 1000 years created in May 1720 in trust for Argyll, to secure £2400 and interest from (3) to Argyll by way of mortgage.

Recites the act of Parliament (Pl F3/2/17), proceedings in the cause of the Duke of Grafton v Robinson, in Chancery, the mortgage Pl F3/3/6 and its assignment (Pl F3/3/31-33).

Consideration: £2400 by the Duke to (1) (part of the sum of £50600 forming the consideration in Pl F3/3/44-45).

Endorsed, 20 May 1768:

Deed poll assignment of the mortgage by demise by the executors of Mary Middleton (widow and surviving executrix of George Middleton) at the request of the devisees in trust of John, Duke of Argyll and Greenwich, deceased, Caroline Townsend, Baroness of Greenwich (sole executrix of Jane, Duchess of Argyll and Greenwich, deceased, herself the sole executrix of the said duke), Margaret, Duchess Dowager of Portland, Robert Harley, James West and Stephen, Earl of Ilchester to James Powell of the parish of St James, Middlesex, Esq. in trust for the Earl of Ilchester as part of the security for £31000 from the Duchess Dowager of Portland and Messrs Harley and West to Ilchester.
