Date1743 (c)
LevelItem/file
Content DescriptionRecommends that Mr Pelham must be made Chancellor of the Exchequer to avoid second county election; suggests that he will have to consider how to recompense Mr Sandys; 'the Treasury must be swept clean. This is not only a wise step because none of them are worth retaining: but it becomes a necessary one, in order to make room for such as shall be brought to support the system'; considers where to find recruits and suggests advancing the levy money which is large enough; advises that no Tories are to be put into the Treasury or as Secretary of State, 'that must be kept in a hand of your own'; suggests Pitt could be put in the Treasury.
