Reports on elopement of Lord Pembroke; Lord Coventry carried his election by 106 votes supported by Lord Garlies and Admiral Holburne, a strange debate in which Sir Harry Erskine said that "if there should be a majority against Haldane it would be a profligate one"; the Duke of Bridgewater's bill and the militia are serious matters; news from France is that Broglie and his brother are in disgrace ; has dined with Jack Mostyn who 'laughed as usual at everything that is and ought to be serious'; attended Lady Waldegrave's ball; quotes an epigram on Lord Lyttleton and some views of the Emperor of Russia to Mr Keith.
