| Content Description | The field book of John Hemsley (1823-1888), a farmer at Shelton, Nottinghamshire, was presented to Philip Lyth and the Brackenhurst Farm Museum in 1970. The folder contains a published article from 'Farmers Weekly', 25 May 1973, and a typescript article for 'Nottinghamshire Heritage', summer 1991. The folder also includes research notes and original documents (which were possibly enclosures inside volume) comprising letter from Thomas Wyles to John Hemsley, 26 Dec. 1855; letter from Joseph Marriott to John Hemsley, 17 Jul. 1856; notes on crop rotations, 1856-1861; and financial calculations. |
