|Admin History||Lt. Col. Percy Robert Clifton (1872-1944) was the son of Sir Henry Juckes Lloyd Bruce (1843-1919), 4th Baronet of Clifton Hall, Nottinghamshire, who in 1872 married Ellen Maud, daughter of Percy Ricardo of Bramley Park, Guildford. They had twin sons, the elder of which, Harvey Robert Bruce (1872-1924) of Clifton, Nottinghamshire, succeeded as 5th Baronet. His brother, Percy Robert Bruce, assumed the name Clifton by Royal Licence in 1919 and married (1st) Alethiea Georgina (née Paget, died 1904) and (2nd) Evelyn Amelia (née Leith).|
Sir Henry's parents were Henry Harvey Bruce (b 1820), 3rd Baronet and Marianne, daughter of Sir Juckes Granville Juckes Clifton, 8th Baronet of Clifton, Nottinghamshire.
Henry Robert Clifton (b 1833), who is mentioned in these records, was the only son of Rev. Henry Spencer Markham, Rector of Clifton, Nottinghamshire and Sophia, eldest daughter of Sir John Lister Kaye.

|Description||The principal item in the collection is entitled 'Abstract of the title of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Robert Clifton CME DSO to freehold hereditaments situate in the City of Nottingham and at Wilford Notts.'. It was prepared by the solicitors Freeth, Rawson and Cartwright of Nottingham in 1920. The abstract records the transfer of lands from Henry Robert Clifton to Charles Wilkinson Lister Kaye of Riccall, Yorkshire and Edward Ward Ashton, major in the Royal Horse Artillery, 7 July 1877. Included are transactions referring to H.R. Clifton and Reginald Bell of the Hall, Thirsk, Yorkshire, 17 April 1894; Dame Isabel Geraldine Clifton and Sir Robert Juckes Clifton, 10 January 1871; H.R. Clifton and Dame Isabel Clifton, 15 September 1871; and Dame Mary Ann Margaret Bruce, James Andrew Thomas Bruce, Cpt. Horace Ricardo of the Grenadier Guards and James Carr Lloyd of Lancing Manor, Sussex, 10 January 1879. Title deeds up to 1898 are referred to.|
