| Description | The collection comprises:
Pastel portrait of Roger Pocklington (1775-1847), of Carlton House, Nottingham, a Captain in the Nottinghamshire Militia, n.d.; together with a printed copy of the portrait, produced by Thomas Fall of 3 Baker Street [London], a firm which was awarded a Royal Warrant by the Queen [Queen Victoria]. The printed copy has biographical details of Roger Pocklington written in pencil on the back. (MS 258/1)
Two printed pages describing Nottinghamshire and Nottingham, illustrated with the Arms of Nottingham. The pages have had their corners cut, perhaps for framing purposes. From contents relating to the election of M.P.s in Nottinghamshire, the pages must date from before 1832. (MS 258/2)
Victorian photograph album containing 12 black and white photographs (MS 258/3):
MS 258/3/1-5 show a frozen River Trent at Nottingham in February 1895 with people skating on the ice.
MS 258/3/6-7 show a procession approaching the gates at Windsor Castle and an open carriage drawn by four white horses, in Windsor Great Park, probably showing queen Victoria with John Brown riding pillion on the back of the carriage, c.1895.
MS 258/3/8-10 are of three fishing boats at Whitby showing boats registered at Whitby and Lowestoft.
MS 258/3/11-12 are views of cliffs and boats at sea probably off the coast near Whitby.
These appear to be privately taken views but there is no note of the photographer.
