The library was closed and the service was reorganized following unification of East and West Germany.
Custodial History
The collection was acquired by the University of Nottingham around 1992, through the efforts and selection of Dr. Janet Wharton of the Institute of German, Austrian and Swiss Affairs.
Description
The collection comprises about half the stock of the original branch library, and includes virtually all the literature, and areas where it was considered that the East German viewpoint would be interesting. It also includes areas where there was an interestingly large quantity of stock, such as history, child psychology, do-it-yourself, car maintenance.
