Content Description
Cassette tape of lecture by Margaret Needham [née King] for the Workers Educational Association on 27 Sep. 1979 about her uncle D.H. Lawrence.
On Side 1:
Recollections of 'Uncle Bert' to W.E.A. in Eastwood. Ends with Mrs. Needham reading a letter written to her by D.H. Lawrence in 1930 when he was unwell in the sanitorium before he died.
On Side 2:
Continuation of Mrs Needham's recollections (to 00:04:09).
Various radio interviews with Mrs Margaret Needham and clips relating to D.H. Lawrence including from Radio Nottingham 29 Feb. 1980, BBC television 'Midlands Today' [audio only] and Radio Derby. Includes extract from dramatisation of 'Women in Love'; extract from visit to D.H. Lawrence Eastwood home; extract from dramatisation of 'Sons and Lovers'. (00:04:17 to 00:20:37)
Total duration of recording: 1 hour 3 min. 44 sec. over two sides of the tape.
