Admin HistoryThe Parish Library of Elston (Nottinghamshire) comprises the remains of the Library (24 items) of the Rev. John South, a Rector of Elston who died in 1732.
Custodial HistoryThe collection was passed from Elston parish to the County Library in Nottinghamshire in the 1950s, and in 1983 was deposited formally with the University Library by the Archdeacon of Newark.
DescriptionThe books are theological in interest, mainly in Latin, and date from the seventeenth century. The collection is closed and is not being added to.
