DescriptionThe Collection includes a large number of title deeds, relating particularly to Denby, Locko, Mapperley and Spondon in Derbyshire, and also to places such as Upper Dean and Sharnbrook in Bedfordshire and Highgate, Middlesex. There are a considerable number of general estate papers, dating primarily from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which reflect a wide range of issues relating to the management of the family estates. Interspersed with these estate papers are more personal papers and correspondence illustrating the personal and business interests of various family members.

Maps and plans form a significant part of the collection, many relating to Denby and Locko and to Locko Hall itself. Also present are household inventories, legal papers, manorial records and wills. Several members of the family acquired licences to acquire additional surnames and arms and these are to be found amongst a group of genealogical papers and pedigrees. The public activities of various family members are reflected in the official and military papers such as those of William Drury Lowe, Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1795, Deputy Lieutenant of the County in 1797 and Captain of the 5th (Locko) Troop of the Derbyshire Volunteer Cavalry.

There are account books of several of the leading family members including Richard Lowe, William Drury (Lowe), William Drury Holden (later Lowe) and his son William Drury Nathaniel Drury Lowe.
