Admin HistorySir Andrew George Buchanan was born 21 July 1937 and succeeded to the baronetcy in 1984. Educated at Eton, Trinity College Cambridge and Wye College London, he served in the Coldstream Guards before managing the estates at Hodsock in Nottinghamshire. He moved into Hodsock Priory after buying out the life interest of Mary Constance Mayhew, sister of Charles James Buchanan in 1966. He became High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire in 1976 and has been Lord Lieutenant from 1991. In 1966 he married Belinda Jane Virginia Maclean and they have two children.
Custodial HistoryThe collection was transferred to Manuscripts and Special Collections in 2007.
DescriptionThis small collection contains a series of papers and correspondence relating to V.A.C. Harbord who was a page at the coronation of George V, alongside miscellaneous items on members of the Buchanan family and correspondence relating to the death of Mary Constance Victoria Mayhew.
