Associations and societies
  • Includes the Historical Association, the Dishley Sheep Society of Leicestershire and the Cambridge Garrick Club.

  • Predominantly Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire focus, including lace-making, hosiery and textiles, engineering, collieries and farming.

Family and estate collections
  • Representing some of the most important Nottinghamshire landowning families, from the 12th to the 20th centuries

Genealogical and local history
  • Principally concerned with research into local communities and families

Health records
  • History of health and medical treatment, including Nottingham General Hospital and Nottingham Medico-Chirurgical Society

Libraries of other institutions
  • Three parish libraries from Oakham, Elston, and Coleorton, rich in early theological and related titles

Literary and cultural records
  • A wide range of materials, including the D.H. Lawrence collections and the Portland Literary Collection

Personal papers
  • Including the working papers of former University staff, correspondence, journals, household books and recipe books

Photographs
  • Collections entirely or predominantly made up of photographs, and larger collections that include significant photographic content

Political and diplomatic papers
  • Papers created or collected by the landowning families of Nottinghamshire, plus many smaller manuscript collections.

Printed Book collections
  • Special printed book collections, including the East Midlands Collection and the Briggs Collection of Educational Literature.

Religious records
  • Records of the Archdeaconry of Nottingham and various nonconformist churches in Nottinghamshire.

Rivers, drainage and water records
  • Records relating to the historic activities of the Trent River Authority and its predecessors in the Trent basin.

Scientific, research and educational collections
  • A wide variety of material, including ornithology, meteorology, radiofrequency spectroscopy and cotton research.

Trade Union and Trade Association records
  • Including records of the Amalgamated Society of Operative Lace Makers and Auxiliary Workers and other textile associations.

University archives
  • Historical records of The University of Nottingham and its predecessor, University College, Nottingham.
