Content DescriptionAcknowledges receipt of his letter of 4/14 [Jul]; adds that as Mr Ham had forgotten to send him the cipher he was not able to understand it fully; comments on the urgency of 'les affaires d'angleterre' and that His Highness [the Prince of Orange] dare not delay for fear of being surprised unexpectedly; reports plans for his journey to Cassel and Hanover to reach agreement with these princes over the provision of troops; asks that his [Dancklemann's] brother meet him at Hanover towards 20 Jul. with instructions to negotiate concerning the level and conditions of assistance to be provided by the elector [of Brandenburg] to the [Prince of Orange]; comments on the importance of this matter, observing that 'si on la laissoit perdre il ni auroit absolument point de retour pour jamais'.

Stresses the need for secrecy in this matter; urges that Schomberg should not go away.
