Content DescriptionReports that William Mason Esq. has issued an address proclaiming himself a third candidate in the Bassetlaw election; argues against the prevailing opinion that Mason has no chance of election and will be beaten by Captain Duncombe and Mr Vernon; thinks Duncombe can only be safe if he receives plumpers from those who can be persuaded to vote; believes the duke to have 'mistaken his way in giving Mr Vernon promises of support' for he is held in a 'bad odour' in Retford; fears Mr Knight 'must go out for the county'.
