Content DescriptionAcknowledges the difficulties experienced by the King in the last parliamentary session; refers to a previous letter on this matter more than six months earlier; notes that it is no longer a question of his desire to retire but rather that his retirement is now indispensable; states that although he has never considered himself essential to the King's service, but would be happy to see himself as of some use, he now believes that it is inappropriate in the present circumstances for him to continue in the government of the kingdom; urges the King to remove him completely from his service, stating that if he leaves him in command of the army, he risks, at the first session, all foreigners being excluded from the military; ends with expressions of obedience, respect and loyalty.
