TitlePublished works from the library at Wollaton Hall; 1564-c1897
Date Of Creation1564-c1897
Access ConditionsMany of the items in the collection are in very poor physical condition, with detached bindings and decayed text blocks. Access to many of them is restricted because of their vulnerable condition.
Content DescriptionThe Willoughby library, formerly housed at Wollaton Hall, was built up over many centuries, enriched by the intellectual interests and scientific pursuits of members of the family. One early 18th century fragmentary manuscript catalogue remains (see Mi I 17/1).

The library's full extent can be estimated from the sales catalogue compiled when the bulk of the collection was sold at auction in 1925. (See Catalogue of valuable books selected from the Library at Wollaton Hall, the property of Lord Middleton, which will be sold by auction by Messrs. Christie, Manson and Woods (London, 1925).)
