TitleCoal Accounts, being account books for pits in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and miscellaneous places; together with vouchers relating to coal accounts and notes about wages
Date Of Creation1526-1790
Content DescriptionUp to c. 1575 'coalpit books' (amount and value of coal mined each week) and 'sinking books' (cost of mining operations) were kept separately. After that date the two are usually in the same volume. The two types of accounts are not distinguished in this list. A volume may sometimes contain accounts for more than one coalfield (e.g. there are some Wollaton accounts in the Bilborough volumes).

Some further accounts are found in the miscellaneous coal material listed at Mi X; vouchers in the series Mi Av occasionally include reference to mines.
