TitleMaps and Plans
Date Of Creationc.1667-1943
Content DescriptionThe majority of maps in the collection relate to the family's Derbyshire estates centred upon Denby and Locko, but there are also a few plans relating to the Holden family properties in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. This section also includes a number of architectural designs for Locko Park, including those of William Wilkins (assumed to be William Wilkins the younger (1778-1839) by J Cornforth (Country Life cxlv, 1969). The designs of a number of local Derby architects including Henry Stevens and Alexander Macpherson are also present.

Some of the maps such as Dr P 38 cover a large area but have been listed under the place named in any endorsement made by the Drury Lowe estate office, indicating that the document had primarily been used for that estate.

This section also includes world maps etc., some of which must have been acquired by the family for reference purposes. Others, such as the Italian architectural plans, were possibly acquired by William Drury Lowe as part of his passion for Italian art and culture.
