Content DescriptionThis series of papers provides a fascinating insight into the lives and activities of various family members. Not only do the papers provide information on estate management matters particularly in Derbyshire but they also relate to other family interests. There are papers concerning Richard Lowe's banking interests in Manchester and London, his supply of clothing for the army and papers concerning Stead Lowe's plantation in Maryland.

There is also an interesting group of papers relating to Denby School, including bills and vouchers for work undertaken at the school, papers relating to appointment of school masters and a number of attendance registers. Other subjects covered within these papers include coal, canals, roads and railways, hunting, tithes, rents, land tax assessments and charities. There are also papers relating to work undertaken at Locko and to the woods and timber. A number of papers relate to the Holden family and their estates and relate closely to papers within the Holden archive.
