Content DescriptionThe Lace Centre was established in 1980 by eight lace manufacturing firms who contributed £100 each. The company's purpose was to provide publicity for the lace industry, and a shop and heritage centre was opened in the 'Severns' building on Castle Road in Nottingham. J.A. Walker was a member of the Board from the company's formation. The Lace Centre closed in 2009. The papers consist of:

BWL/8/1-35: Bundle of minutes and accounts, including minutes of Board Meetings, Annual General Meetings, annual accounts for years ending 31 July, and correspondence, 13 Dec. 1982-26 Sep. 1988;

BWL/8/36: 'The Story of Lace': pamphlet produced by the City of Nottingham Public Relations Office, and advertising the new Nottingham Lace Centre, n.d. [c.1980];

BWL/8/37-40: Four colour postcards showing the inside and outside of the Lace Centre, n.d. [1980s];

BWL/8/41: Brochure for the Lace Hall on High Pavement [an exhibition space which the Lace Centre considered investing in], produced in advance of its opening in spring 1988;

BWL/8/42: Copy letter from J.A. Walker to 'Keith', providing background information about his involvement with the Lace Centre, 25 Mar. 1995.
